Making the efforts of the individuals visible for the community
Problem
Problem
Efforts for a sustainable future are often not acknowledged: we take our own bags for shopping, we cycle in the city, but most of the time it feels like it is not enough if we’re the only ones trying, and it doesn’t really affect anything except having a clean conscience. That is why it is important to make these efforts visible, and to thank people for trying to create a better world for all of us.
The idea
The idea
We placed stickers on all trams, buses, trolley buses with the message: “Thank you for traveling green!” The stickers also contained a QR code, that is how they could find the website of the campaign. The landing page only contains one button (“You’re welcome!”), after pressing it you find a message board where you are asked to write about some things you usually do for the environment. You can also read and like messages from other citizens – this way, you suddenly find yourself in a community of environmentally conscious people.

The effect
The effect
The user journey creates a positive identity, the goal is to make people feel that they are environmentally conscious, and this is something to be proud of. The link between the environment and transportation is created, which brings a new perspective to this topic: it does matter, how you commute, and it does affect the environment. Creating a positive identity also forms a community, which makes all the efforts seem useful. Making these efforts visible can inspire citizens to follow in their footsteps. Showing a good example is always better than asking someone to do something, especially when the reasons are not obvious.
