“Thank you for traveling green”- stickers

Encouraging positive behavior by thanking citizens for choosing sustainable transportation.

Problem

Problem

29% of the citizens travel by car, which causes traffic jams and an increase in air pollution. The municipality is usually busy dealing with the problems caused by this behavior, and focusing on the drivers to somehow make them use their vehicles less often. It might be equally important to acknowledge the positive behavior as well, and establish communication with the majority, who travel in a sustainable way. This kind of approach also sends a delicate message to car users, without being offensive.

The idea

The idea

We wanted to create a campaign to give feedback to all the passengers of public transportation, make them feel good about their good deed, and encourage them to continue this behavior. Through the campaign, the city can express their gratitude, and thank the passengers for traveling green.

The effect

The effect

This is the message of the campaign: “Thank you for traveling green”, which we placed on every single public transportation vehicle in the form of stickers. We wanted passengers to see this message every time they step on a tram or a bus. This message also expresses that this problem can only be solved together with the citizens – the municipality can’t make traffic jams disappear on its own.

The QR code on the stickers takes the passengers to a website, where they can react to the message by pushing the only button on the website (You’re welcome), and on the next page, they can share some tips about sustainability.

Results

Results

The message is seen by ten thousands of passengers every day – the number of visitors on the website is as high as approximately 50% of all public transportation passengers in the city.
